Railway Gauging is a minefield. A fact you might have found your first mine already, and your foot hurts. The Railway Group Standards give you a fair idea of where the Gauging minefield is and how large it is. However, you can read a clause in the RGS and think, no, that does not apply to me; but unfortunately it does. And Gauging is yet more complicated because it contains many exceptions to the rules, most in the Group Standards, but you need to know where to look.
TEF Gauging Ltd wear large steel boots and have an expert knowledge of the many paths across the Gauging minefield. We can take you across the Gauging minefield without treading on the really big mines.
TEF Gauging Ltd is also actively involved with the Industry in mine clearance, making it easier to cross the minefield unaided in the future.
TEF Gauging Ltd cannot undertake the Clearance calculations required to prove compatibility of your vehicle or structure. You need to contact others to do that for you. A few of the popular firms are listed on our Resources page (Gauging Analysis). | Locomotive IntroductionClass 88 No. 88008 'Ariadne' being hoisted up out of the Eemslift Nelli prior to be lowered onto the docks on 1st March 2017 at Workington.
